The El Fronton Invitational event will follow the final event of the 2010 IBA World Tor at Confital and have a waiting period from 10-21st of December, needing only one day to run.
The 16 man field will feature:
4 local riders.
Mike Stewart and Jeff Hubbard from Hawaii
Pierre-Louis Costes and Amaury from Europe
Andre Botha and Jared Houston from South Africa
Uri Valadaho and Guilherme Tamega from Brazil
Ben Player, Damian King, Ryan Hardy and Dave Winchester from Australia.
That's a competitor list that features eight World Champions. The riders come from each of the IBA's main regions, they were unanimously agreed on and all have solid big wave credentials. With December typically being the most fruitful time of the year for El Fronton swells, there should be some wild action go down in the battle for the title and $25,000 prize money.
In a big coup for the sport, Red Bull TV (who have a subscriber base of over 9 million viewers), will be presenting the live webcast. The team behind the new-looking IBA are excited to unveil the new format with a bang and having the best riders in one of the world's best waves for bodyboarding and showcasing it to the world is a good way to do it. Here begins the hype for the new 2011 IBA World Tour."
